Alvin “Texas” Smith Competition
Official competition rules — organizer review required before public launch.
Theme: “Be What I Didn’t See — Draw the Future You Want to See.”
Entry window: November 2–15, 2026
Deadline: November 15 at 11:59 p.m. Jamaica time (UTC−5)
Winner announcement: November 22, 2026
1. Who can enter
Boys aged 13–18 residing in any of Jamaica’s 14 parishes. Membership in REASSEMBLE is not required. No purchase or entry fee is required. For participants aged 13–17, a parent or legal guardian must submit the entry. Participants aged 18 may enter on their own behalf.
2. One drawing per participant
Each artist may submit one original hand-drawn artwork. Submit one clear JPG or PNG photograph or scan through the official entry form. Keep the physical original safe; selected winners may be asked to provide it. Entries should be created by the artist, reflect the theme, and not infringe anyone else’s rights. Duplicate or ineligible entries may be disqualified.
3. Judging
Eligible entries will be assessed by judges selected by REASSEMBLE using: creativity and originality (35%), connection to the theme (30%), artistic expression and effort (25%), and overall presentation (10%). Judges may request verification that the artist created the drawing. Judges’ decisions are final except for error or rule violations.
4. Purchase of winning originals
REASSEMBLE intends to purchase the first-place physical original for US$300, second place for US$150, and third place for US$50. These are purchase prices for original artwork, not payments for entering. Selected artists and, where applicable, guardians must agree to a separate written purchase agreement addressing delivery, condition, payment method and timing. REASSEMBLE will cover reasonable agreed delivery costs. Ownership of the physical original transfers after full payment; copyright remains with the artist unless separately licensed in writing.
5. Winner notification
Winners are scheduled to be announced November 22, 2026. REASSEMBLE will first contact selected artists or guardians privately using the supplied email address. Publicly identifying a minor or displaying artwork requires separate optional written permission. Refusing publicity permission will not affect eligibility or selection.
6. Privacy and submission consent
Information will be used to check eligibility, judge entries, contact participants or guardians, and arrange any purchase. Provide only the requested details. Do not include faces, school details, addresses or other identifying information in uploaded photos. See the Privacy Policy. Entries and uploads are processed through Formspree. Entrants may ask about their information by emailing info@reassemblementoring.org.
7. Fair administration
REASSEMBLE may reject entries that violate the rules, and may correct administrative errors. Any material changes will be posted on this page and communicated to affected entrants where feasible. The organizer should publish a contact response deadline, file retention period, and applicable governing-law terms before opening submissions.
